How To Stay Fit While Traveling | Tips
I know that when I am going on my next trip, the last thing I think about is fitness. I just want to explore new places and eat as much as I can. However, the problem is that if you’re planning to do it for a more extended period of time, you are not going to feel that great by the end of your trip. So, here I suggest easy ways on how to stay fit and healthy while traveling.
- Try to walk everywhere
It is a great way to incorporate some movement in your day. It’s the best way to explore a new city, wander through local markets, parks, and hidden streets. Also, don’t forget about the fantastic “walking tours” that you can find in almost every country. It’s a great way to learn new things and meet more people.
- Plan outdoor activities
Go on hikes and enjoy some outdoor adventures. It is the best way to take care of your body and spirit, lift your mood and enjoy some fascinating views at the end.
- Drink more water
No matter how cliché it sounds, it’s essential for your overall health and wellbeing. It’s the easiest thing to do, so that’s why we usually forget about it. Just bring a reusable water bottle with you so you can easily refill it.
- Don’t drink your calories
While we are on the subject of drinking, pay attention to how many cocktails and sugary drinks you are consuming. They are not beneficial to your health, and you can easily go overboard with them.
- Watch the food you eat
Restaurants, cafes and food markets are all very important part of every culture. Do your research and try local recipes. So when you consume your calories, it’s going to be worth it and it’s a better alternative to any fast food restaurant either way.
- Pack your gym shoes
Another thing that I try to do, if I travel for a longer period of time, is packing my gym shoes with me. That way when I see them in my bag, it will remind me that I should incorporate some running or go to the gym on one of the days.
- Do at home exercises
Another thing that you can do to stay fit is to find a video on YouTube of “at home exercises” and do a 5, 10 or 20-minute workout in your hotel room. It’s not going to take too much of your time, but the effort that you put in it will be worth it.
- Buy a Fitbit or download a fit app
Another great way to keep yourself accountable is to invest in a Fitbit or at least download some fitness apps on your phone. A lot of them have some great challenges or an option to set your own goal that you want to achieve. They will remind you when it’s time to exercise.
